📢 New Staff Spotlight! - Katie Maurice! Katie is our new Director of Financial Reporting & Budgets, and a returning Bronco alumni! What are you most looking forward to this year? Building relationships with the staff and working collaboratively to manage district funds in a way that will be of most benefit to our students and our community. What are some of your hobbies or interests? While most of my free time is spent carting my 3 kids around to different activities, I also enjoy shopping and spending time with my family. I especially enjoy watching my kids' sporting events as well as supporting their 4-H & FFA adventures. 📢 Let's welcome our new staff! Hi, I’m Kelly Bartlett. I joined UGHS in October 2023 as the Director of Human Resources and Accounting. Prior to coming to the high school, I worked at Gateway Technical College for 24 years. I live in Yorkville with my husband, Cory, our boys Ethan and Carter, our foster boy, and our two dogs, Winston and Fergie. Our daughter Mariah, a 2015 UGHS graduate, now lives in Austin, Texas, where she works as a yoga instructor. Our oldest son is a junior at UGHS, and our two younger boys will be at the high school next year. All of our boys are passionate about football and play for the Broncos or JR Broncos. Go Broncos! What I love most about UGHS is the connectedness of the staff. Whether it’s a staff activity, sporting event, play, or musical, there’s always something to enjoy with coworkers or my family. Over the past year, I’ve felt warmly welcomed to the high school. Outside of work, I stay active in the community. My husband and I have been foster parents since 2019, and we currently have one foster child in our care. We’ve opened our home to a handful of kids over the years and have grown so much from the experience of helping others. In my free time, I enjoy listening to audiobooks, taking on remodeling and decorating projects and working in my yard. As a family, we love spending our summer weekends up north, camping and boating. Summer is definitely my favorite time of year. One of my favorite quotes that I do my best to live by is from Dr. Suess, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Welcome, Kelly! #BroncoFAM ♥🤍

📢 Let's welcome our new staff! We're so happy to have another alumni come back! Brittany Grimm - Special Education I will be the new Special Education Transition (ASCEND) Program Teacher and Coordinator. I will be teaching 17-21 yo out in the Union Grove community. Come say Hi if you see us around town! I am most excited to be a Bronco again! I feel extremely lucky to create this new program and make it a UGHS success story! We have two girlie twirlies at home (ages 5 and 7) and they keep my husband, Shawn, and I very busy! We love going to the UP, Swimming, Boating, and Snowmobiling. We just built a new home, so we spend any extra time enjoying every second of it! As a UGHS Junior and Senior, I was fortunate enough to be a teacher's assistant in the very classroom that is now my own. During those few terms, I grew to love Mrs. Rebecca Gunville's kiddos and I knew immediately that Special Education would be my future. After four years at UWW, I graduated and was hired to expand the RUSD Transition Program. I developed that wonderful program for 14 years in the Racine Community. I have excitedly found my way back to UGHS to continue this important and fulfilling work! What a beautiful full circle moment. 📢 Let's welcome our new staff! Kathryn Oliver - We are happy to officially announce Kathryn as a Family & Consumer Science Teacher! She has been teaching part-time over the last few years, and we're so glad to welcome her! What will you be teaching? I will be teaching Foods 1, Foods 2, Independent Living, and Interior Design. What are you most looking forward to in your new role at UGHS? I am looking forward to teaching students real life skills that they can implement into their everyday lives, now and in the future. What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of education? I enjoy kayaking, baking, cooking, sewing, and crocheting. I also love to travel every chance I get! What inspired you to become a teacher/go into education? I previously worked in food service and was a trainer for many years. After deciding to leave the food service industry I wanted to still educate individuals on life skills and how to prepare food safely. I found the perfect spot to do that in the FACS department though shadowing and long-term substituting. Is there a quote/mantra that guides your teaching? I'm most looking forward to getting to know my students and supporting them. What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of education? I enjoy watching sports (especially basketball and soccer), spending time with my family, and playing cornhole. What inspired you to become a teacher/go into education? For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a teacher. Growing up, I enjoyed helping other students, and helping those that were younger than me. In my first semester of college, I decided that teaching was not what I wanted to do, so I switched my major to Psychology. I researched careers, and found school counseling, I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do. Is there a quote/mantra that guides your teaching? 📢 Let's welcome our new staff! Rachel Genrich - English Teacher What are you most looking forward to in your new role at UGHS? I'm so excited for the sense of community I feel! I've been welcomed with open arms to a group of educators that are clearly passionate about their students. I feel lucky to be a part of that. What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of education? I love spending time with my family, tending to my many house plants, and finding new ways to be creative or crafty. What inspired you to become a teacher/go into education? I've always loved working with young people and helping others in any way that I can. Teaching has always felt like the perfect blend of those two things. When I was in high school, I was challenged and inspired by my teacher, Ms. Giannangeli, which set me down the path of English Education. My professors at UW-Stevens Point deeply solidified that this is where I'm meant to be. Is there a quote/mantra that guides your teaching? "Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes" - Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It reminds me, and my students, that your voice and your opinion matter. Our building will be closed tomorrow, Friday, August 30. We are finishing up a few projects to prepare for the first day of school. We're so excited to have students fill our halls and classrooms again . Reminder- the first day of school is Tuesday, September 3.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of education? - I love anything sports related, and being active. I love to travel especially to National Parks to go hiking. What inspired you to become a teacher/go into education? - I enjoy helping others reach their potential and succeed, so teaching kids seemed to be a perfect fit.
